The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa

The Lost Prince (The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten, #1)The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After reading the Iron Fey series I knew I had to continue on with this offshoot series. Beginning approximately nine years after The Iron Knight, The Lost Prince is told from Ethan's point of view, now a teenager in high school. The story shows us what his life is like, a normal human caught in the world of the fey. All he wants is for them to go away, to leave him alone, but once they know you can see them, they never leave you alone. The story takes Ethan back into the land of Faery, a place he never wanted to step foot again, where he must fight for his life and for those he loves. His journey opens his eyes to the fey like they were not before, and he must come to terms with the fact that they have lives, are struggling to survive, and are people too…sort of.

While I enjoyed The Iron Fey series, I actually loved this one even more. I think it is because of Ethan. His mind was a great place to be, and I fell in love with him. He had this whole brooding stay-away-from-me-I'm-a-bad-boy thing going on when really he was this sweet kid who was afraid of anyone getting hurt.

This story introduced us to a whole new cast of characters, but we also got to see some old friends ("I am a cat"). I am very much looking forward to the next two books in this series to learn more about Ethan and Kerrian especially.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author in exchange for an honest review.
